CAMSHAFT REMOVAL
Loosen the sealing bolt of the cam chain tensioner.
Remove the
tw
o
cam
chain
tensioner attaching bolts and
the
tensionar.
Remove
the
two camshaft bearing holder boilS and the bearing
holder.
Remove the
cam
chain from the cam sprocket.
Suspend the cam
chain
with a piece of wire
to
keep it from fail-
ing
into
the
crankcase.
Remove
the
camshaft.
NOTE
Be careful not
to drop
foreign material into the crankcase.
INSPECTION
Check
each cam
lobe
for
wear
or
damage.
Measure the cam lobe height.

Check each camshaft bearing for play or damage.
Turn
th
e
outer race of each bearing with your finger.
The bearings should turn smoothly
and
quietly
Replace the camshaft assembly
with
a new one
if
the
right
camshaft
bearing does not turn smoothly and Quietly.
NOTE
The right
camshaft
bearing
cannot be removed.
For
left camshaft
bearing replacement, remove the snap ring.
timing
indicator
plate, and bearing using a bearing
puller.
Drive a
new
bearing onto the
camshaft.

Install the timing indicator plate and snap ring.
