The TCP/IP diskette provided with the EcoLAN 1000E includes install scripts for
various UNIX systems. This section describes how to install TCP/IP printing to the
EcoLAN 1000E on any of the following operating systems:
• DEC ULTRIX 4.3 RISC
• System V Rel. 4
• Solaris (Ver. 1.x, 2.x)

Once the EcoLAN 1000E has its IP information loaded, the following steps are

the TCP/IP diskette.
2. Run the appropriate installation script, if available.
3. Complete the configuration for your operating system.

7.3.3.1Loading the Software

The following procedures are only necessary when using the supplied host-based lpr
capability. Loading the software is not necessary if printer-based lpr is used.
Important: The host-based lpr requires a TCP/IP port number of 9100. The default port
1. Log in as superuser to the system that spools directly to the print server.
2. Insert the print server's TCP/IP diskette in the host drive.
TCP/IP Configuration 7-28

or a Web Browser to change the port number. In the configuration utilities
the port number is set to one less than the desired port number. For example,
for port 9100, enter 10000. The EcoLAN 1000E Network Status Page
displays the actual port number in use.
