Between the host-based and printer-based TCP/IP printing capabilities, the EcoLAN
1000E works with:
• All UNIX systems that support lpd
• System V Rel. 4 (on 386 platforms)
• DEC ULTRIX RISC Versions 4.3 and 4.4
• DEC OSF/1 Versions 2.0 and 3.0
• Solaris:
Version 1.1.3 (SunOS 4.1.3),
Version 2.3 (SunOS 5.3),
Version 2.4, and
Version 2.5
• HP-UX Series 700 and 800 Version 9.01 and Version 10.0
• IBM AIX Version 3.2.5
• SCO UNIX Version 3.2
• AS400
The TCP/IP diskette also includes source code that you can recompile host-based code
for configuring on other System V platforms.
7.3.1 Configuring the IP Address on the EcoLAN 1000E
Regardless of the printing mode selected, the EcoLAN 1000E must be given IP
address and routing parameters. You can configure the IP address for the EcoLAN
1000E in one of the following ways:
• Use MAP, as described in Chapter 3.
• Use the AppleTalk KYOManage utility program, available from the Mita web site
as described in Chapter 6.
• Use the Internet Boot Protocol (BOOTP).
• Use the reverse ARP (rarp) capability (Ethernet II frame type only).
• Use arp and ping capability.
For each method, you will need to provide the Ethernet address of the EcoLAN
1000E. The Ethernet address is the 12-character code that is printed under Network
Address on the configuration status report each time the printer is turned on.
