Minitower Hard Disk Drive Cabling

Either of the hard disk drive signal cable connectors may be used for the hard disk drives.
The hard disk drives are configured by jumpers as master (drive C) and slave (drive D). The
hard disk drive connectors are identified in Figure Section 3-20.
Cable the hard disk drive as follows.
Locate the IDE hard disk signal cable and connect it as follows (see Figure Sec-
1.
tion 3-48).

If this is the first hard disk drive locate the signal cable that came with the hard
disk drive kit. Plug one end of the cable into the system board's PCI-bus IDE
connector. (The connectors are identified on system board, see Appendix A
for exact locations.) Plug the other end into the signal connector on the hard
disk drive.

On systems that come preconfigured with a hard disk drive installed, locate
the middle connector on the IDE cable used by the installed drive. Plug the
middle connector into the signal connector of the newly installed hard disk
drive.
Locate one of the larger power connectors coming from the power supply and

plug it into the hard disk drive power connector (see Figure Section 3-48).
