How To....

Replace the Resistance Stepper Motor

Tools Required: Phillips Screwdriver, 6mm Deep Socket and Ratchet
Estimated Repair Time: 60 minutes
1. Turn the cross trainer power switch OFF.
2. Unplug the line cord from the wall outlet.
3. Remove and save the ten screws that secure both the front and rear shrouds on the right side of the unit.
4. Remove and save the screw and nut that secure the front of the resistance stepper motor to the frame.
5. Rotate the resistance stepper motor clockwise. This will make removal of the brake cable easier.
6. Remove brake cable from the resistance stepper motor.
7. Remove and save the remaining screw and nut that secure the resistance stepper motor to the frame.
8. Disconnect the resistance stepper motor cable from the motor controller.
9. Remove the resistance stepper motor.
10. Install the new resistance motor with the rear screw and nut removed in Step 7 only.
11. Connect the resistance stepper motor cable to the motor controller.
12. Power up unit. This procedure sets the initial starting point for the resistance range of the motor.
13. Turn the power switch OFF again.
14. Connect the brake cable to the resistance stepper motor.
15. Rotate the resistance stepper motor counterclockwise back to
its original mounting position.
16. Secure the motor to the frame with the screw and nut re-
moved in Step 4.
17. Power up the unit.

19. Re-install the rear shrouds using the hardware removed and
saved in Step 4.
