Activity Zone: Diagnosing Activity Zone Error Messages
1. Cycle the power:
a. Turn the ON / OFF switch OFF.
b. Wait 10 seconds.
c. Turn the ON/OFF switch back ON. If functioning normally the actuators should move downward until hitting
the home position limit switch. At that point they will briefl y reverse direction and stop at the minimum stride
length position. If an error appears on the Activity Zone display proceed to Step 2.
d. Attempt to adjust the stride length to maximum using the Activity Zone keypad. If an error appears on the
Activity Zone display proceed to Step 2.
e. Ride the machine. If either of the actuators move when not commanded the most likely cause is a bad cable
in the idler link assembly. The actuators will always try to move away from a travel limit switch that is actuated
(open switch circuit). Still check out the switch assemblies using Step 2 and 3, but replace the idler link if
nothing is found.
f. If no error appears but the purpose of the service call was an E6 displayed you should still proceed to step 2.
2. Remove the outside stationary and moving shrouds on both the left and right actuator assembly (see illustration
below):
a. Inspect the limit switches.
b. Inspect for broken, frayed, or worn wires. Also check that the connector from the switch assembly is plugged
in properly. If everything looks OK proceed to Step 3.
3. Remove the right side shrouds from the base of the machine to gain access to the control board. A diagnostic
LED is provided on the control board to check the function of each limit switch. In normal operation all four LED's
should be on unless the stride actuators are moving and the maximum or minimum stride length limits have been
reached. When the limit of travel is reached, the switch is activated and the LED will go out. The actuator will re-
verse directions briefl y until the switch opens. The LED will come on again and the stride actuator will stop.
