SRX5400 Firewall MPC and MIC Overview

Modular Port Concentrators (MPCs; see
accept Modular Interface Cards (MICs). These MICs add Ethernet ports to your firewall. You must install
at least one MPC in the firewall. You can install MPCs into any of the slots 0/1, 1, and 2 at the bottom of
the card cage. You cannot install the MPC into the SCB slot (0).
NOTE: The SRX5400 Firewall does not support the I/O cards (IOCs) or Flex IOCs supported by
the SRX5600 and SRX5800 Firewalls. MPCs are the only supported interface cards for the
SRX5400 Firewall.
If a slot in the card cage is not occupied by a card, you must install a blank panel to shield the empty slot
and to allow cooling air to circulate properly through the firewall. If a slot in an MPC is not occupied by a
MIC, you must install a blank panel in the empty MIC slot to shield it and to allow cooling air to circulate
properly through the MPC.
