This section describes the NT30/620 compatible mode in detail.
Overview
The NT30/620 compatible mode is a function that allows screen data and user programs from an earlier PT (NT30,
NT30C, NT620S, NT620C, or NT625C) to be easily reused in an NT31, NT31C, NT631, or NT631C. Using
NT30/620 compatible mode reduces the differences between the earlier and most recent versions and makes it
easy to achieve compatibility.
The NT30/620 compatible mode has the following features:
• Changes the word configuration of the PT's PT status control area and PT status notify area to the match the
word configuration of the earlier PTs. This change allows the new PTs to execute user programs from the earlier
PTs without any editing.
• The image and library codes are changed to match those of earlier PTs, so it isn't necessary to edit any of these
codes that are specified in the user program. Furthermore, display elements that have image and library codes
incorporated into character strings can be used without any editing.
• When using the Support Tool to convert screen data from an earlier PT for use in a -V2 version of an NT31,
NT31C, NT631, or NT631C, the default setting is NT30/620 compatible mode (the setting can be changed in the
Support Tool's PT environment settings). The default setting converts screen data with the highest level of com-
patibility.
• Even though a newer NT31, NT31C, NT631, or NT631C PT is operating in NT30/620 compatible mode, it still
retains all of its new functions. The enhanced functions can be applied to screen data converted from an earlier
PT.
Functional Changes when Using NT30/620 Compatible Mode
This section describes the changes in PT functions resulting from the NT30/620 compatible mode.

Appendix C
NT30/620 Compatible Mode
S Except for the differences described below, the -V2 versions of the NT31,
NT31C, NT631, and NT631C PTs retain all of their new functions.
S The NT30/620 compatible mode is used by default when screen data from an
earlier PT is converted for use in a -V2 version of an NT31, NT31C, NT631, or
NT631C. If you do not want to use NT30/620 compatible mode, remove the
check mark in the Support Tool's menu [PT Configuration]–[PT
Type]–[NT30/620 Compatible Mode].
