sumption (lowest SAE viscosity class in each
case; observe possible restrictions of the
approved SAE viscosity classes)
To achieve the lowest possible fuel consumption,
it is recommended to use the engine oil specifica‐
tions marked in the table for the lowest SAE vis‐
cosity class. Observe any possible restrictions of
the approved SAE viscosity classes.
If the engine oils listed in the table are not availa‐
ble, you may add a maximum 1.0 l of the follow‐
ing engine oils once only:
vehicles with petrol engines: MB-Freigabe

Notes on brake fluid
Observe the notes on operating fluids
(
page 278).
/
& WARNING Risk of an accident due to
vapour pockets forming in the brake sys‐
tem
The brake fluid constantly absorbs moisture
from the air. This lowers the boiling point of
the brake fluid. If the boiling point is too low,

vapour pockets may form in the brake system
when the brakes are applied hard.
This impairs the braking effect.
Have the brake fluid renewed at the
#
specified intervals.
* NOTE Damage to paint, plastic or rubber
by brake fluid
There is a risk of damage to property if brake
fluid comes into contact with paint, plastic or
rubber.
If paint, plastic or rubber comes into
#
contact with brake fluid, rinse with
water immediately.
Observe the notes on paintwork/matt finish
paintwork care (
page 237).
/
Have the brake fluid renewed every two years at
a qualified specialist workshop.
Only use brake fluid approved by Mercedes-Benz
in accordance with MB-Freigabe or MB-Approval

& WARNING Risk of fire‑ and injury from
antifreeze
If antifreeze comes into contact with hot com‐
ponent parts in the engine compartment, it
may ignite.
Allow the engine to cool down before
