The automatic transmission shifts up one or
more gears depending on the gear currently
engaged. Simultaneously, the shift range
restriction is deactivated and the transmis‐
sion position appears in the multifunction dis‐
play h.
Recommended shift ranges for the following driv‐
ing conditions:
3 use the engine's braking effect.
2 use the engine's braking effect on downhill
gradients and when driving on steep roads,
in mountainous areas as well as under ardu‐
ous operating conditions.
1 use the engine's braking effect on extremely
steep downhill gradients and on long down‐
hill stretches.

Depending on the engine line-up and equip‐
ment, the vehicle has different drive pro‐
grams.
Use the DYNAMIC SELECT switch to switch
between the following drive programs.
The drive program selected appears in the multi‐
function display next to the transmission position
display. After starting the engine, the automatic
transmission switches automatically to drive pro‐
gram A.
