Pull the spare wheel out from under the vehi‐

cle.
Press cable 6 downwards and hold spring
#
8 at an angle against wheel gripper 7.
Wheel gripper 7 is released.

Fitting the spare wheel under the rear of the
vehicle

Light-alloy wheels cannot be transported
under the vehicle. In this case, transport the
light-alloy wheel in the load compartment,
and only turn up cable 6.
Take wheel wrench
#
for the spare wheel lifter out of the vehicle
tool kit ( page 256).

Place the wheel on the ground with the wheel
#
brace pointing upwards.
Guide wheel gripper
#
6 from above into the wheel brace.
Slide the wheel slightly under the vehicle.

Attach wheel wrench
#
for the spare wheel lifter.
Turn wheel wrench
#
arrow 4 until you feel resistance and the
friction clutch of the winch overwinds in
jerks.
The wheel is firmly secured to the underside
of the vehicle.
Pull wheel wrench
#
for the spare wheel lifter out of the opening
for the winch.
Close the winch opening with cover cap 1.

Stow wheel wrench
#
for the spare wheel lifter in the vehicle tool
kit.
