Depending on the engine, the è symbol
first appears during the automatic engine
stop or during the journey.
If all vehicle conditions for the automatic engine
stop are met, the engine is automatically
switched off:
Vehicles with manual transmission: You

decelerate the vehicle to a lower speed, then
engage neutral i and then take your foot off
the clutch pedal.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: You
R
stop the vehicle in transmission position h
or i.
The engine restarts automatically in the following
cases:
Vehicles with manual transmission: You

depress the clutch pedal.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: You
R
release the brake pedal in transmission posi‐
tion h and with the HOLD function deactiva‐
ted.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: You
R
select transmission position h or k.
You depress the accelerator pedal.

An automatic vehicle automatic engine start
R
is required.
If the engine was switched off by the ECO start/
stop function and one of the doors is opened, the
engine will automatically start.
Switching the ECO start/stop function off/on
Press the è button on the centre console.

When the indicator lamp in the è button
lights up, the ECO start/stop function is acti‐
vated.
Function of the ECO display
The ECO display summarises your driving charac‐
teristics from the start of the journey to its com‐
pletion and assists you in achieving the most eco‐
nomical driving style. If you interrupt your trip
and switch off the ignition for longer than four
hours, the ECO display values will automatically
be reset.
You can influence consumption if you:
Anticipate road and traffic conditions.

Drive in drive program ; if it is available;
R
otherwise, in drive program A

Follow the gearshift recommendations.

The inner segment lights up green and the outer
segment fills up:
1 Moderate acceleration

2 Gentle deceleration and rolling
R
3 Consistent speed
R
The inner segment is grey and the outer segment
empties:
1 Sporty acceleration

2 Heavy braking
R
3 Speed fluctuations
R
You are driving economically if the edge of the
ECO display lights up and the three outer seg‐
ments are completely full at the same time.
The additional range achieved as a result of your
driving style in comparison with a driver with a
very sporty driving style is shown under
from start. The range displayed does not indicate
a fixed reduction in consumption.
