3.19 How to Reduce the Short Distance Gain (TVG
Function)
When two schools of fish are of the same size, a school of fish in deep water is
displayed in a weaker color than that in shallow water because of the properties of the
ultrasound waves. The TVG function automatically adjusts the gain according to the
depth and the TVG level. So schools of fish of the same size but at different depths are
displayed in the same color.
Touch control:
1.
Press the MENU/ESC key to open [MENU].
2.
Tap [SOUNDER], then tap [ON].
3.
Tap [TVG HF] or [TVG LF] and drag the slider bar displayed on the right side, or tap
[+] or [-] to set the TVG level.
4.
Tap [x] on the title bar to close [MENU].
Key control:
1.
Press the MENU/ESC key to open [MENU].
2.
Select [SOUNDER] with the arrow keys, then press the ENTER key.
3.
Select [TVG HF] or [TVG LF] with the arrow keys, then press the ENTER key.
4.
Set the TVG level with the arrow keys, then press the ENTER key.
5.
Press the MENU/ESC key to close [MENU].
Depending on the fish finder connected, the TVG function operates differently as follows.

How TVG function operates
The higher the TVG level value, the more the gain
increases at short distance.
The higher the TVG level value, the more the gain
decreases at short distance.
