ROTARY BLADE & BALANCING ____________________________________
Blades may be sharpened by filing or grinding. When sharpening, maintain blade balance using a
suitable Rotary Blade Balancing Tool (see image) Failure to keep the blade balanced causes excess
vibration, blade wear and shortened blade life, and may result in damage to other components
of the machine
.
To check blade balance
1.
Determine if the blade is balanced by using a suitable balancing tool.
2.
An unbalanced blade when placed on the tool will either tip to the heavy end or begin to rotate with the
heavy end leading.
3.
If the blade is adequately balanced, the weight should convert the light end into the heaviest end. If
correction is required, file or grind the heavy end to obtain balance.
NOTES:
Do not overheat or weaken blades when sharpening.
Do not straighten bent blades.
*
If the lift portion of the blade is worn thin, replace with a new blade.
Replace cracked or bent blades.
For greatest safety always use genuine replacement blades.
Do not file or grind the blades lower edge to create a pointed edge, grind the top surface only to
sharpen the blade.
Use a genuine Ransomes blade to ensure the original specification is maintained.
