The fields in the command are described below.
<action>
This is a required field that specifies the action for the command. The require-
ments for the format of this field are given previously. The action must be one
of the following values:

get
get the current value of the parameter
set
set the current value of the parameter; requires the value as
an argument
inc
increment the current value; requires the value to increment
by as an argument
dec
decrement the current value; requires the value to
decrement by as an argument tog toggles the state of the
current value; only applicable to Boolean commands
tog
toggles the current value of the boolean parameter
ping
does not affect any parameter, just checks that the system is
accessible
run
runs a preset or partial preset
<param>
This is a system-defined text argument that specifies the name of the parame-
ter on which to operate.
<limit>
Some parameters support user-definable minimum and maximum values. For
these commands, the <limit> argument can be specified. The <limit> argu-
ment is a system-defined text argument and can be one of the following values:
