1-3. Adjusting the needle-to-shuttle relation

turn oFF the power before starting the work so as to prevent accidents caused by abrupt
start of the sewing machine.

Turn the handwheel by hand. When needle
bar 1 has gone up, adjust so that lower
marker lne 2 engraved on the needle bar
algns wth the bottom end of the needle bar
bushng, lower 3 .

Loosen setscrew 1 n the drver. Open nner
hook pressers 2 to the rght and left, and
remove nner hook presser 3 .
At this time, be careful not to let inner
hook 4 come off and fall.

Adjust so that the blade pont of nner hook 4
algns wth the center of needle 5 , and that
a clearance of 0 mm s provded between the
front end of the drver and the needle as the
front end face of drver 6 receves the needle
to prevent the needle from beng bent. Then
tghten setscrew 1 of the drver.

Loosen setscrew 7 of the shuttle, and adjust
the longtudnal poston of the shuttle. To do
ths adjustment, turn shuttle race adjustng
shaft 8 clockwse or counterclockwse to
provde a 0.05 to 0.1 mm clearance between
needle 5 and the blade pont of nner hook 4 .

After adjustng the longtudnal poston of the
shuttle, further adjust to provde a 7.5 mm
clearance between the needle and the shuttle
by adjustng the rotatng drecton. Then
tghten setscrew 7 of the shuttle.
Apply a small amount of oil to race
section 9 and oil wick !0 , and use the
sewing machine after an extended pe-
riod of disuse or cleaning the periph-
ery of hook portion.
