On the H P-I B connector pin 1 2 and pins 1 8 through 24 are tied to protective earth grou nd

and the H P-I B cable shield. The instrument frame, chassis, covers and all exposed metal
surfaces are connected to protective earth grou nd. The input term inal outer BNC con­
ductor is NOT connected to protective earth grou nd, and can be raised to a maximum
of 42 Vpk with respect to instru ment chassis.
DO NOT interrupt the protective earth gro und or "float" the
HP 3562A. This action could expose the operator to poten tially
hazardous voltages.
Operator maintenance is l i m ited to rep lacing the l ine fuse (MP205) and clean ing the fan

fi lter. There are no operator controls or user serviceable parts inside the H P 3562A. Only
trained service personnel should perform instrument repairs.
To a vo id serious injury, disconnect the ac line power cord be fore
removing or installing the ac line fuse.
There are two voltage settings on the rear panel of the H P 3562A. Before con necting the
Voltage settings
l ine power cord or tu rning on the instru ment, verify the voltage selector switch is in the
correct position for the input l ine voltage.
Only a fuse (MP205) with the requ ired rated current and specified
type sho uld be used for repla cement. The use of repaired fuses
and short circu iting of fuse ho lders is not perm itted. Wh enever
it is likely that the protection offered by the fuse has been impa ired,
the HP 3562A must be made inoperative and secured against
un intended operation.
Under no circumstances sho uld an operator remove any co vers,
screws, or in any other wa y enter the HP 3562A. There are no
