AEC block — The AEC block, when inserted, contains a number of
meters and indicator LEDs necessary for gain structure setup and
monitoring activity.
See
AEC Tutorial
on page 141 for a more detailed examination of the
Acoustic Echo Cancellation functions.
1
Activity indicators —
– Lights when activity is detected at the remote (reference)
Far
site monitored for echo cancellation.
Near – Lights when activity is detected from the local site.
Update – Lights when the AEC is updating, converging, or
reconverging.
2
Meters —
(echo return loss)— The ratio in dB between the signal at the reference and the
ERL
signal at the AEC channel input. When ERL is a positive number, the signal level
at the AEC channel input is lower than the signal at the selected reference (0 to
+15 dB is desirable).
(echo return loss enhancement) — The amount in dB of potential echo signal
ERLE
that the AEC algorithm, not including non-linear processing (NLP), is cancelling.
(total echo reduction) — The sum of ERL + ERLE, in dB.
TER
3
Reference — Select the AEC reference line from a drop-down list.
You must select the AEC reference, otherwise the echo canceller will
not work. The list is populated with the following:
All other mic inputs
Virtual Return channels (A to H)
4
Noise Cancellation — Noise cancellation detects steady
state noise, such as air conditioning or other continuous
system noise, and effectively removes it without causing
audible artifacts. The default setting is noise cancellation on and set to 15 dB of
attenuation.
: radio button — Click to toggle the noise cancellation on and off.
Cancel Noise by
Threshold (dB): — Set the attenuation threshold for noise cancellation in dB.
The default is 15.0 dB. Up to 20 dB of noise cancellation is available, in 0.1 dB
increments.
5
Bypass button — Click to toggle the bypass on and off. Bypass removes
the AEC from the mic input. When AEC is bypassed, a red indicator in the
block turns on.
6
Open/collapse functions icon ( ) — Click to access the advanced AEC settings.
NOTE: Most users do not need to change the advanced settings. See
AEC Controls
on page 142 for descriptions of these settings.
Dynamics blocks (2) — The two dynamics processor blocks, when inserted,
each provide one of four dynamic processors. The available processors are
as described for the Line audio
