S brush spring force
7. Check:
S gear teeth
8. Check:
S bearing 1
S oil seal 2
S bushing 3

ASSEMBLING THE STARTER MOTOR

1. Install:
S brush seat 1
NOTE:
Align the tab a on the brush seat with the slot b
in the rear cover.
2. Install:
S washers 1
S armature coil 2
S o-ring 3
S rear bracket 4
NOTE:
To prevent damaging the brushes during instal-
lation push down on the brush springs.

Out of specification ! Replace the brushes
as a set.
Brush length wear limit
5 mm
Fatigue/out of specification ! Replace the
brush springs as a set.
Brush spring force
570 X 920 N
Damage/wear ! Replace the gear.
Damage/wear ! Replace the defective
part(-s).
