ADJUSTING THE REAR BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH

CHECKING THE BRAKE PADS/
2. Check:
Wear indicators 1 almost touch the brake disc.
Replace the brake pads as a set.
Refer to "FRONT AND REAR BRAKES" in
CHAPTER 7.

NOTE:
The rear brake light switch is operated by move-
ment of the brake pedal.
Adjustment is correct when the brake light
comes on by depressing the brake pedal less
than 3 X 8 mm.

a. Hold the main body 1 of the rear brake light
CAUTION:
S When on adjustment of the brake light
switch is wrong, the cruise control is not
operated correctly.
S When the brake light comes on too early,
the period of time to cancel the cruise con-
trol is shortened
S When the brake light comes on too late, the
cruise control cannot be canceled.

Incorrect ! Adjust.
S rear brake light operation timing
switch so that it does not rotate and turn the
adjusting nut 2 in direction a or b until the
rear brake light comes on at the proper time.
Direction a !
Brake light comes on sooner.
Direction b !
Brake light comes on later.
