Oscillating Axle Cylinders

The oscillating axle cylinders extend and retract
between the drive chassis and the oscillating axle.
The cylinders are equipped with counterbalance
valves to prevent movement in the event of a
hydraulic line failure. The valves are not adjustable.
How to Remove an Oscillating
Axle Cylinder
Note: Perform this procedure on a firm, level
surface with the boom in the stowed position.
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.
1
Rotate the boom until the turntable
counterweight is between the circle-end and
square-end tires.
2
Tag, disconnect and plug the oscillating axle
cylinder hydraulic hoses. Cap the fittings on
the oscillate cylinder.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
