ABNORMAL NOISE FROM CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
Condition
D A large rattling noise is heard at
idle or sudden acceleration.
ABNORMAL NOISE FROM TENSION PULLEY
Condition
D Clattering noise is heard from
pulley.
D Pulley cranks upon contact.
ABNORMAL NOISE FROM EVAPORATOR
Condition
D Whistling sound is heard from
evaporator.
ABNORMAL NOISE FROM BLOWER MOTOR
Condition
D Blower motor emits a chirping
sound in proportion to its speed of
rotation.
D Fluttering noise or large droning
noise is heard from blower motor.
Possible Cause
D Loosen pulley mounting bolt.
D Worn or broken bearings.
Possible Cause
D Worn or damaged bearings.
D Cracked or loose bracket.
Possible Cause
D Depending on the combination of
the interior/exterior
temperatures, engine rpm and
refrigerant pressure, the
refrigerant flowing out of the
expansion valve may, under
certain conditions, make a
whistling sound.
Possible Cause
D Worn or damaged motor brushes
or commutator.
D Leaves or other debris
introduced from fresh air inlet to
blower motor.

Correction
D Retighten bolt.
D Replace bearings.
Correction
D Replace bearings.
D Replace or retighten bracket.
Correction
D At times, slightly decreasing
refrigerant volume may stop this
noise.
D Inspect expansion valve and
replace if faulty.

D Repair or replace blower motor.
D Remove debris and make sure
that the screen at fresh air inlet is
intact.
