using special tool

5 . Select a replacement shim that
will provide
a
clearance within
the specified range
(0.03-0.08 mm). For the purpose of this
adjustment,
a
total of 20 sizes of
tappet
shim are available ranging from 2.15 to
3.10 m m in
steps
of
0.05 mm. Fit the
selected
shim
to
the
ti
tith
numbers
toward tappet.

6. After replacing the tappet shim, rotate the
engine
so that the tappet is depressed fully.
This
wilI
squeeze out
oil trapped
between
the shim and the tappet that could cause an
incorrect measurement, then check the
clearance again to confirm that

is within
the specified range.
