Wiring
The above

is a schematic of fuel
gauge wiring. The internal
resistance value of
the gauge
unit
is adapted to vary
with the
height of the float. lit is difficult for current
to pass
tllrough the circuit when the
resistance
value is high, an consequently the swing
of
the meter is small (close
to
point

The more current passes
through the circuit,
increasing the swing of the
pointer

Main
operation
Current passing
through the heater wire
deflects the main bimetal causing
the
pointer
to move.
Auxiliary operation
This compensates for variations in
tem-
perature and voltage.
A temperature
compensating bimetal is provided so that
no indication errors
occur
due
to
tem-
perature changes inside the meter:
