Examine the rear-center mount with the
jacking-load released.

If the rear-center mount is pulled substan-
tially downward on the tray side, it should
probably be replaced.

If the rear-center mount needs to be
replaced, it is very likely to be a victim part
of other worn mounts. All five mounts are
identical, and a strong case can be made
for replacing all five mounts.

Replacing a corner mount:

2a.
Remove the center bolt from the rear-cen-
ter mount using a pair of 9/16" wrenches.
See Figure 8.143.

Remove the center bolt from both mounts
on the side that is to be replaced.

Lift-up the engine and transfer case tray
far enough to allow easy access to the
fasteners that hold the mount to the
frame. See Figure 8.145.
2d.
Unbolt the mount from the frame using a
pair of 1/2" wrenches.
2e.
Slip the mount out from between the tray
and the frame. See Figure 8.146.
2f.
Reverse the removal procedure to install
the mount.
Use caution not to pinch the brake line when
working on the driver's side mounts.
Tighten the center bolts to a torque of 32-36 ft.-
lbs (43-49 N-m).
Tighten the mount ear bolts to a torque of 32-36
ft.-lbs ( 43-49 N-m).
