The air filter can be reached by removing the air
filter cover. The cover is secured by a captive
wing-nut. See Figure 7.3.

NOTE: Engine manufacturer's recommended
maintenance intervals are embossed on the
inside of the air filter cover. Follow them.
4a.
Close the choke (pull up on the knob,
located just left of the driver's seat) before
removing the air filter closure plate.
4b.
The air filter is surrounded by an oiled
foam pre-cleaner. This may be washed in
mild detergent and water, dried, lightly
oiled, and reinstalled if it is in good shape.
4c.
Remove the wing nut that secures the air
filter and element cover, and lift them out
of the housing. See Figure 7.4.

4d.
Look for evidence of dirt ingestion inside of
the filter. It will be most pronounced near
the source of vacuum: the carburetor
throat. See Figure 7.5.

The filter can be knocked clean of dirt, and
may be re-used if it comes clean.
Replace it if it appears dirty.
Do not wash the paper filter element.
Do not clean the paper filter element with com-
pressed air. This will blow the finer fibers out of
the element, allowing larger particles of dirt to
get through.

The oil drain and oil filter are accessible from
beneath the vehicle: See Figure 7.6.

NOTE: The oil change interval is 100 hours.
The Oil filter change interval is 200 hours.
Replace the filter at every second oil change.
