Position each bearing cone in its side of the cup,
and press the seal in flush behind it using a flat
driver. See Figure 5.31.

Installation notes: wheel bearings
20a. Install the brake caliper bracket and
shield. Use thread locking compound
such as Loctite® 262 (red) near the end of
the threads on each bolt, and tighten them
to a torque of 22-26 ft-lbs. (30-35 Nm).
20b. Support the lower control arm.
20c. Insert the axel assembly into the hub.
20d. Slip the hub into position in the lower con-
trol arm. Install the bolt, but do not tighten.
20e. Re-connect the upper control arm and
tighten both hub bolts to a torque of 32-36
ft lbs(43-49 Nm).

Install the brake rotor on the hub, and
secure it with the heavy washer and cas-
tle nut.
20g.
Tighten the axle nut to a torque of 150-
165 ft-lbs. (203-224 N-m) and secure it
with a new 5/32"x1-1/4" (.4x3.175cm) cot-
ter pin.
20h.
Install the brake pads and caliper.
Tighten the mounting pins to a torque of
22-26ft-lbs (30-35 N-m), and secure them
with C-clips.
21.
Install the wheel, and tighten the lug nuts to a
torque of 75 ft-lbs (102 Nm).
22.
Lower the vehicle to the ground.
23.
Test drive the vehicle in a safe area before
returning it to service.
