To Test for a Drive in the Front Drive Panel

At the console prompt (

The screen shows the detailed configuration (or list of
components in your system unit, or base slot 3). The
display should list the drive that you installed along with
the SCSI number that you gave it. Here is an example
display:

In this example, the new drive is an RX23 floppy disk drive.
We gave it a SCSI ID number of 4. This number, in this
case,

If the new drive is not listed at all,
Open the system unit and check for these two possibilities.
Then use the cnfg command to test the drive again. If
your new drive is still not listed properly, tell your system
manager or call your Digital Customer Support Center.
