Power supply
o
Do not connect this unit
to'
same electrical
ou llet that
is being
used by an electrical appliance that is
con
troll
ed
by
an inverter
(such as a
re frigera
to
r, washing
machine,
microwave oven, or air
conditionerl,
or
that contains a motor.
Depending
on
the way
in
which the electrical
appliance
is
used,
powe
r
supply noise may
cause this unit
to
malfunction
or
may
produce audible noise.
If it is
not
practica
l
to
use
a separate electrical outlet, connect a power
supply noise filter between
this
unit and the electrica
l
oullet.
o
The
AC
adaptor
wi
ll
begin to generate heat after long hours of
consecutive use. This is normal, and is not a cause for concern.
o
Th
e
use
of the supp
lied
AC ada
ptor
is
recommended
as the unit's
powe
r
consumption
is
relatively
high.
Should you
prefer
to
use
batte
ri
es, please
use
the
rechargeab
le
Ni-MH
type.
o
When installing
or replacing
batteries, always turn
off the
power
on
this
unit and disconnect any
other
devices
you
may have
con
-
nected.
This
way, you
can prevent
malfu nctio
n
and/or damage
to
speakers
or
other
devices.
o
Before
connecting th
is unit to other devices, turn off
the
power
to
all units. This
will
hel
p prevent malfunctions and/or damage
to
speakers
or other devices.
Placem ent
o
Using
the unit nea
r
power
amp lifie
rs
(or
othe
r
equipment
contain-
ing large power
trans
formers)
may induce
hum.
To al leviate
the
problem,
change the orientation of th is
unit;
or
move it
fa rther
away from the source of
interference.
o
This
device
may interfere
with
radio
and television
reception. Do
not use
this device
in
the vicin ity of such
receivers.
o
Noise
may be produced if
wireless communications
devices,
such
as cell phones,
are operated in the vicinity of th
is unit.
Such
noise
could occur when
receiving
or initiating a ca ll, or whi le conversing.
Should
you experience such
problems,
you should
relocate
such
wireless
devices
50
they are
at a
greater distance from this
unit,
or
sw itch them off.
o
Do not
expose
the
unit to
direct
sunlight,
place it near
devices that
radiate heat, leave
it
inside
an enclosed
vehicle,
or otherwise sub-
ject
it
to temperature ext
rem
es.
Excessive heat
can
deform
or
dis-
color the
unit.
o
When
moved
from one
location
to another where the temperatu re
and/or humidity
is
very different, water
drople
ts (condensation)
may form inside
the
unit. Damage
or
malfunction may
result
if
you attempt to use the
unit in
this condition. Therefore, before
using
the unit, you
must
al low
it
to stand for severai
hours,
until
the condensation
has
completely evaporated.
o
Do not
all
ow objects to
remain
on top of the keyboard. This can be
the
cause
of
malfunction, such
as keys ceasing
to produce
sound.
o
Depending
on
the
material and
tempe rature
of
the surface on
which you
place
the unit,
its rubber
feet
may
discolor or mar tlle
surface.
You can
place
a
piece
of felt or cloth under the
rubber
feet to
pre-
vent this from
happening. If
you do
50,
please make
sure that the
unit
will
not
slip or
move
accidentally.
Maintenance
o
For
everyday cleaning wipe the FR-3x with a soft, dry cloth or one
that has been slightly dampened with water.
To remove
stubborn
dirt, use
a mild, non -abrasive detergent. Afterwards, be sure to
wipe the
instrument
thoroughly with a soft, dry
cloth.
o
Never use benzine, thinner, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to
avo id the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.
Repairs
and
data
o
Please be aware
that
all
data contained in
the
unit's memory may
be lost
when
the unit is sent
for
repairs.
Important
data
should
always
be backed up on a USB memory or
written
down
on
paper
(when possible). During
repairs, due
ca
re is
taken
to avoid the loss
of
data.
However,
in
certain cases (such as when circu
itry
related
to memory
itself
is out of order),
we
regret that it
may
not be
pos-
sible to
restore
the data, and Roland Europe S.p.a. assumes no
lia-
bility concerning such loss of data.
Precautions for batteries (not
supplied)
o
The temperature range for use of the batteries depends on the
battery
type being used.
Please
see the documentation that came
with
tlle batteries.
o
Do not use or store batteries at high
temperature,
such
as
in
strong direct
sun
light,
in
ca
rs
during hot
weather or
directly
in
front
of
heaters.
This
may
cause battery
fluidleakage,
impaired
per
fo
rman
ce
and shorten the batteries'
service
li
fe.
o
Do not splash
fresh
or
sa ltwate
r
on a
battery
or
allow tlle termi-
nals
to
become damp. This may
cause
heat generation and
forma-
tion of
rus
t on the
battery and
its term
inal
s.
o
If newly purchased batteries exhibit rust,
generate
heat
or
seem
abnorma
l
in any
other way,
do not use them.
Take
them
back
to
you
r dealer.
o
Keep
the
batteries out of reach of ba bies
or small
chi ldren.
o
Be
sure to carefu lly
instruct any person
on the
proper
way of Ilan-
dling a
battery.
o
Never
dispose
of the
battery in
a fire. Never
heat
it.
Doing
50
may
melt the insulation, damage
the gas release vents
or
protective
devices,
cause
combustion through
chemical
reaction
with
gener-
ated hydrogen,
ejection
of battery
fluid,
bursting or fire.
o
Do not use batteries
with the
positive
(+) and negative
(-l
termi-
nals
reversed,
as this
may
drain the
batteries
or cause abnorm al
chemical
reactions.
o
Do no strike
or
drop the
batteries.
Strong impact can
cause
leak-
age
of battery fluid, heat
gene
ra
tion,
bursting or
fire.
o
Never try to connect seve
rai
batte ries
in parallel as
th is
may
cause
leakage
of
battery
fluid,
heat
generation, bursting or
fire.
o
Do not alter
or
remove protective mechanisms
or other
parts.
Never
disassemble Ille batteries.
o
If
any flu id from a
battery
comes
in
contact with the eyes,
flu
sh
the eyes immediately, washing them thorough ly with clean water
from a tap
or
othe
r
sou rce
and
consu lt
a
doctor.
Strong
alkal ine
fluid can damage the eyes and
lead
to
permanent
loss of eyesight.
o
If
skin or clothing comes
in
contact with any fluid from the
bat-
tery, wasll the area
immediately
with
clean
water from a tap.
Bat-
tery fluid
can
cause skin
damage.
o
When
a battery
is
no
longer
usable, dispose
of
it in
accordance
with all
applicable locallaws
and
regulations.
o
If
a battery leaks fluid, changes color or shape
or changes in
any
other way, do
not
use
it,
otherwise
it may
cause heat generation,
bursting
or fi re.
Aclclitional
preca
utions
o
Please
be
aware that the contents of memory can be
irretrievably
lost
as a
result
of a malfunction, or the improper operation of the
unit. To
protect
yourself against the
risk
of
loosing
important data,
we
recommend
that you
periodically
save a backup copy of
impor-
tant data you
have
stored
in
the unit's
memory
to
a USB
memory.
o
Unfortunately,
it
may be impossible to
restore
the contents of data
that was stored on a USB memory once it has
been lost. Roland
Europe S.p.a. assumes no liability concerning such
loss
of data.
