This section provides an overview of points to eheek and aetions to take when the FR-3x does not funetion as you expeet.

No sound
. Oid you turn the [VOL] knob all the way to the
small dot?
Set it to a higher val ue.
• Oid you turn the [BAL] knob all the way to one
side?
Change its setting and try aga in.
• Are you moving the bellows while triggering
accordion sounds?
The Treble and Bass/Free Bass secti ons only produce
sound if you move the bellows while playing notes
(like on an aco ustic accordion).
No sOLind is heard when an external al11plifier is
connected
. Oid you switch on the connected amp lifier?
Please check this.
• Oid you connect the audio cables to the correct
sockets?
If sa, check the cables for possible damage.
No sOLind when YOLI play on the treble keyboard
You may have muted the Treble section. See "Switch-
ing off the treble section" on p. 27 for how to acti-
vate it again.
No sOLind when YOLI play on the bass keyboard
Yo u may have muted the Bass/Chord section. See
"Switching off the Bass and/or Chord section" on
p. 31 for ho w to activate it again .
No sOLind and the display shows " ___ "
. Oid you set the "Mld" parameter to "In"?
In that case, the FR-3 x on ly responds to MIOI mes-
sages. Set the parameter to "Out" (page 58).
No power
. Oid you disconnect the adapter?
Connec t the supplied adapter, or install op tional bat-
teries.
. Oid the FR-3x go off after severai seconds?
The "Auto Power Off" function may be active. Set it to
"Off" (page 55).
The FR-3 x does not respond to YOLir playing
. Oid you set the "Mld" parameter to "In"?
In that case, the FR -3 x only responds to MIDlmes-
sages. Set the parameter to "Out" (page 58).
• Are you moving the bellows while triggering
accorclion souncls?
The Treble and Bass/Free Bass sections only procluce
sou nd if you mave the bel lows whi le playing notes
(li ke on an acoust ic accordion).
Issues related to the bass buttons
. Why do the bass buttons only provide three
chord rows?
Because yo u set the "Bass & Chord Mode" parameter
to "2", "3 ", "4" or "5" (page 53) Set it to "1".
• Why can't I play diminished chords using the
bass buttons?
Becau se yo u set the "Bass & Chord Mode" parameter
to "2", "3", "4" or "5" (page 53). Set it to ''1''.
• In Free Bass mode, the bass buttons play the
wrong notes.
Yo u my have changed the "Free Bass Mode" setting.
Be sure to select the system that best suits yo ur play-
ing st yle (page 51).
MIDI-related issLIes
. What MIOI channels does the FR-3x use by
default?
See the table on page 56.
• The FR-3x does not change sounds when my
sequencer trans mits program change nUl11bers.
The program change number probably outside the
range of the FR-3x's registers (see "Program change
messages" on p. 71). Such "excess" programnumbers
are ignored by the FR-3 x.
• The FR-3x does not receive the MIOI messages I
recorded for it.
That's beca use the "Mld" parameter is curren tly set to
"Out". Set it to "I n" (page 58).
• The external sequencer keeps displaying a "MIOI
Buffer Overflow" message
The bellows sends toa many data at once (its data are
transmitted on five channels simultaneously). Se lect
a di fferent setting ("2" or ''1''). This leads to a coarser
resolution, andmaybe to audible steps, but at least,
your sequencer will be able to record the data. See
"Bello ws TX Resolution" on p. 62.

Are you using a USB memory made by ano ther man-
