Sending
program
change
mes-
sages to
external devices
Though each register or Set can transmi
t
a program
change/bank select
clus
ter
when pressed,
you can also
transmit
sound select
messages
on
the fly
- without
changing registers
on the
FR-3x. These
are MIDI mes-
sages
that
cause an
external
instrument
or
device
to
select a
different memory (i
.e. another
so und
or effect).
This functionality is mainly
intended for
selecting
set-
tin
g groups
of
vario
us
sounds on external
instruments.
Such setting groups
may
be ca
lied "Performances"
or
"Multis",
whi
ch
you
may
wa
nt to
select while
playing,
because
using those multitimbralmemories has the
advantage
that all
sound
addresses and MIDI
channels
are configured
"automatically"
simply
by
sending
the
correct
"PC"
address
from the FR-3x.

a program change
message
to an
externa
ldevice
To transmit
a program change
message
to an external
MIDI
device,
proceed as
follows
:
1.
Connect th
e
FR-3x's
MIDI socket to the MIDI
IN
port of th
e
l1lodule, synthesizer, etc.,
you
wish to control.
2.
Set the "Mld"
parameter (page
58) to "Out"
.
[NOTE]
"Out" is the default
