Chapter 2: Installing an R100 System
This section describes your options for installing an R100 chassis in a
freestanding 19-inch equipment rack.
The R100 chassis has adjustable installation brackets that enable you to install it
in one of three horizontal positions in the rack.
WARNING
WARNING
When you install disk shelves and a chassis into a rack, you must install the
equipment from the bottom up to ensure the greatest stability.
Front-installed position—The installation brackets lie flush with the chassis
front panel.
The chassis is shipped with the installation brackets in this position. The
following figure shows a front-installed R100 chassis.
Two mid-installed positions—You can move the installation brackets to
extend the chassis 4.75 inches or 9.5 inches in front of the rack, providing
more room to service the chassis from the back.
The following illustration shows an R100 chassis mid-installed (4.75 inches)
in a rack.
