14.4.2 Manually cleaning the print heads
Caution! Inexpert cleaning can damage the print heads and render them
useless. To avoid damage to the print heads make certain to heed the
following hints:
• Always start the integrated ultimail cleaning function first when you expe-
rience print quality issues. Read chapter 14.4.1 on page 145.
• You should manually clean the print heads in exceptional cases only
where intensive cleaning fails to restore the normal print quality.
• Only use a soft, fibreless cloth that is moistened with de-ionised water for
cleaning.
Small fibres might clog the nozzles. A cloth that is dry or not soft enough
may cause scratches. Such scratches make the print cartridge useless
because they prevent the ink jet from being correctly positioned during
printing.
• Do not use chemical cleaning agents.
