Please keep the manual near the ultimail at all times for reference. This operator manual applies to all configurations and equip- ment varieties of postage meters ultimail 60 and ultimail 120.

    Have the ultimail metering system checked by Francotyp-Postalia service before starting it up again. • Use the “Sealer ultimail 60” only with the ultimail 60 postage meter. It is not possible to operate the sealer without the ultimail 60 postage meter.

    Operator Manual A short description of the ultimail The ultimail is a digital metering system with an inkjet printer for metering letter mail (ink jet print with two ink cartridges arranged side by side). Design In its basic version, the metering system consists of the postage meter, manual positioner and catch tray.
  • Page 11 – Sealer ultimail 60. Automatic sealer for the ultimail 60 to moisten and seal letters. The letters are positioned manually. – Feeder ultimail 120. Automatic feeder with sealer. The letters are separated from the stack, optionally moistened and sealed, and fed to the postage meter.

    Operator Manual Switching the ultimail ON / OFF Use the power switch on the back of the postage meter to switch the ultimail and installed optional system components ON / OFF. Switching on • Switch the power switch on the back of the postage meter to the position.

Never simply pull the power cord or interrupt the power in any other way before the printing system has moved to sealed position. Only in that way you can prevent drying and maintain a constant printing quality.

    Operator Manual ultimail Operation Basics In this chapter you will learn about the basic ultimail 60 and ultimail 120 functions and how to handle the operating menu. Access control by MASTER / USER card The MASTER and USER cards, commonly referred to as access cards, control the access rights to the postage meter.

    In this chapter you will get to know the home menu and the product selection menu. The total of the ultimail user interface works in a similar way. You will soon get used to the other windows (SET UP menu, input, prompt, error message, help).

    Operator Manual 5.1.1 Setting the postage value / product using the memory The home menu lets you retrieve up to 20 saved combinations of dispatch data, weight and postage. You can display the available memory items under MEMORY. Refer to Chapter 11 on how to save, edit or delete memory items.

    Setting dispatch data 5.1.2.1 Selecting the dispatch data for a new product You set the dispatch data in a dialogue with the metering machine, i.e. the ultimail requests all the data required for calculating the postage value one after the other.

    – The scale is designed for a maximum weight of 5 kg. – The ultimail can determine a new weight only if the scale has been emptied beforehand. You must therefore empty the scale pan before you place a new mailpiece to be weighed.

    The input box for the weight appears. • Type the weight in grams. • Confirm with the key. The ultimail closes the input box. The weight is set. Manual weight input ultimail sets the appropriate postage value for metering using the selected dispatch data and the displayed weight.

    5.1.4 Entering the postage value manually (BASE-Variant only) If the ultimail is unable to determine a postage value with the selected dispatch data automatically (e.g. Incentive Lettermail), you have to enter the postage value manually. • Press the key next to PRODUCT SELECTION to open the product selection menu.

    • Press the key next to the date in the home menu. The input box for the date appears. ultimail displays the date in the following format: year (YYYY), month (MM) and day (DD). You can just enter the day (DD) as well.

    With the meter imprint you can print a logo of your choice on your mail piece. The ultimail offers the following options for printing logos: – The postage meter can hold a maximum of 9 different logos. The saved logos are available to all users.

    You can use the pre-select counter function to meter a preset number of letters. This function is especially helpful for stack processing with feeder: – The ultimail will stop once the total number of letters is metered. – You can start again with the key and meter the next stack.

    For registering your incoming mail (up to a thickness of 6.35 mm / ¼"), you can use the ultimail as incoming mail stamping machine. For this function, use the INCOMING STAMP mode. The ultimail will print “Received on:…” together with the date displayed.

    TELESET is the loading of the desired postage credit via modem. The modem is built into the ultimail. To load postage a connection is made to the TELESET data center (TDC) with the ultimail and the desired amount is loaded.

    • Maintain the indicated loading amount or overwrite with a new amount. • Select CONTINUE to start the loading process. After a security prompt the ultimail establishes a connection with the TELESET data center. Messages in the display inform about the status (connection, data transfer…).

    An ultimail with integrated scale features 20 memory slots. An ex factory ultimail comes with typical products of Canada Post saved as memory items. The ultimail continuously refers to the valid rate tables to determine the postages for the memory items. The ultimail thus ensures your postages are correct even when rate tables have changed (price changes).

    The ultimail saves the complete current setting (dispatch data, displayed weight, and the appropriate postage). SAVE MEMORY WITHOUT WEIGHT The ultimail saves the dispatch data and “0 g” as the weight. Note on memory 1: The setting you save as memory 1 is the default setting.
