Using a cleaning stick, apply grease to the pad as
described below.
(1) Fully submerge the tip of the cleaning stick in
the grease.
(2) Rotate the cleaning stick two or three times,
and then remove it.
(3) Apply the grease to the pad at the end of the
grease tool.

Hold the grease tool against the secondary
carriage rod and smoothly slide it twice from one
end to the other and back again as shown in
Step 3.

Remove the stained pad, and then store the
grease tool with the grease.

Storage
❏ Replace the cap to prevent foreign objects falling
into the grease.
Maintenance
❏ Store the container at room temperature with the
cap uppermost in a location that is not exposed to
direct sunlight.
Parts That Are Periodically
Replaced
The following parts require periodic replacement.
Carriage encoder: The time until replacement varies
according to the conditions of use. When replacing the
carriage encoder, you also need to replace the carriage
scale.
When it is almost time to replace parts, a maintenance
request is displayed on the control panel. The printer
can still be used while the maintenance request is
displayed.

The part life varies with operating conditions. Base the
decision to replace the part on the quality of the print
results.
Contact your dealer or Epson Support for information
on replacing components.
Component status can be printed by selecting Print
Status Sheet in the setup menu.
