1.12 Distinction Between New and Old Process Units

The process unit contains a fusing resistor for discriminating between new and old. This fusing resistor
conducts when the process unit is new while the fusing resistor blows when the process unit is once
installed in the copier indicating that it has been used.
A distinction between the new and old process units is automatically made when the process unit is
installed in the copier. Without installing the process unit in the copier, you can also make a distinction
between new and old by directly measuring the resistive value of the fusing resistor with the tester.
Important:
When measuring, NEVER touch the drum surface of the process unit.
(1) Measure the resistive value across the process unit terminals as shown below.

(2) Discriminate between the new and old process units from the measured value. The following resistive
values should be used as a guide.
New:
