Starter Gears
1. Inspect:
gear surfaces

PRIMARY GEARS

The drive gear is mounted on the crankshaft;
the driven gear is mounted on the transmission
and is intergrated with the clutch assembly.
1. Inspect:

Scratches/Wear/Damage

CLUTCH

Clutch Housing
1. Inspect:
on the housing
Cracks/Wear/Damage
housing bearing
Chafing/Wear/Damage
Boss
Clutch
The clutch boss contains a built-in damper
beneath the friction plate
.
It is not necessary t o remove the wire
circlip and disassemble the built-in damper
unless there is serious clutch chattering.
R ep lace.
Replace crank-
Replace clutch
Deburr or replace.
Replace.
