5.1 Preparation

There are some steps you must take preparatory to booting and other steps that
can make booting thereafter easier.

5.1.1 Set os_type Environment Variable

For factory-installed software (FIS), a default operating system is defined. If you
do not have factory-installed software, or you wish to change the default
operating system, you use the set os_type command.
Example 5-1 Setting os_type for OpenVMS

Example 5-2 Setting os_type for DIGITAL UNIX

Example 5-3 Setting os_type for Windows NT
P00>>> set os_type nt
These examples show the SRM command used to define the operating system as
OpenVMS, DIGITAL UNIX, and Windows NT, respectively.
