Solving network printing problems

Problem
Cause
This MFP is

port or print driver

The protocol may be
disabled on the print
server.
The network is not
functioning correctly.

wireless connection
may not be
communicating with
the closest access
point.
The MFP may be in a
non-responsive state.
The optional wireless
print adapter may not
have a good signal.
Troubleshooting
Solution
• Make sure the power cord is plugged in.
• Make sure the electrical outlet is working.
• Check to see if the other equipment on the same electrical outlet is
working.
• Make sure the MFP is turned on.

• Press Clear to exit a function or the menus.
Reconnect the network cable.
Replace the network cable with a previously tested network cable.
• Check to see if the print queue on the local workstation is paused.
• Check to see if the print port and print driver are installed correctly.
Consider removing and reinstalling the print driver and print port
software. Refer to the Setup Guide.
• If you are printing through a network print server, such as Windows
2000, NetWare 6.5, LINUX/UNIX server, and so on, make sure the
print queue is not paused.
• Print the network setup page to verify that the protocol is enabled.

• Enable the protocol through the control panel. See

Contact your support person for assistance.
• Try several standard network verification tests, such as using the
PING command to check connectivity on the network.
• Check the wireless signal meter to verify your wireless network card
has a good signal.
Turn the MFP power off, wait at least 15 seconds, and then turn the
MFP on. Try printing again.
• Reposition the MFP to receive a stronger signal.
• Contact your support person for assistance.
