RS232

For situations where a MIDI interface is not available or it is difficult to fit a
MIDI port, e.g. on a portable, then the FDS-366T's built in RS232 port can be
used to connect directly to any PC with a standard 9 pin D type serial port.
The cable from the first unit to the PC should be a null modem cable. If you
wish to make a suitable cable then connect two female 9 way D-type
connectors together as follows:
When using RS232, set the first Omnidrive's MIDI Mode parameter to "PC
Port" and all the other units in the loop to MIDI Mode "Thru". Also, to enable
the RS232 port the Serial Port parameter must be set to "RS232".

It is possible to connect just two FDS-366T Omnidrives together using RS232.
In this case either FDS-366T can become the master; the other unit being set
to "PC Port" mode. A null modem cable is again used and as stated before,
both units must be set to the same MIDI channel.
Do not expect RS232 to work reliably over more than 50 feet, if the distance
is greater than this then you should use the FDS-366T's RS485 interfaces, as
discussed in the next section.
