XII. ADVANCED FEATURES

With the Polling Function, one fax unit is able to activate a transmission to it
from another unit. This function includes the following operations:
Polling Transmission (standby) -
l
unit when called-for by a remote unit. Transmission occurs at your unit without
operator assistance. However, your unit must be in the AUTO receive mode.
Polling Reception -
l
transmitted to your unit at your request. Polling Reception can also be set
for a later time unattended using Timer Polling (see p.89).
Turnaround Polling -
l
and receive documents from another unit on one phone connection.
NOTE:
Polling is only possible with another unit with a Polling function.

2. Polling Security

To prevent unauthorized polling of your unit ("pick-up" of documents in the feed-
er), the FO-220 is provided with Polling Security. With this feature, transmission
from your unit will only take place when the following two conditions are met:
(1) The remote unit has its Remote Terminal Identification (RI) programmed
with its fax number; and (2) The RTI of the remote unit is also programmed
into your unit as a Polling Permission Number. When a remote unit trys to poll
your unit, the RTI of the remote unit is automatically checked against your unit's
programmed list of Polling Permission Numbers. Transmission takes place only
if there is a match-up.
NOTES:
The Polling Security is activated by programming the Polling Security Selec-
l
tion function (see p.33).
If security is not chosen, any remote unit with a polling function can poll your
unit (referred to as "free polling").
Up to 10 Polling Permission Numbers can be entered into the FO-220 (see p.31).
