Chapter 3
NOTE
If the HP NetServer is mounted in the rack at an awkward
height, it may be easier and safer to completely detach the
satellite from the base and carry it elsewhere for service. See
the next section for details.
NOTE
The satellite chassis' top cover will not open until you slide out
the satellite chassis.
To extend the satellite chassis for service:
1. Log off all users. Shut down all networking software and applications, if
running.
2. Turn the power interlock switch on the HP NetServer's rear panel
clockwise. This powers off the NetServer and unlatches the satellite
chassis. See Chapter 2 for details.
NOTE
If you fail to unlock the power interlock switch, the satellite
chassis will not slide away from the base chassis.
3. If the server is mounted in a rack, cables most likely run from the satellite
chassis to other rack components. If these cables prevent easy access to the
satellite, or could stop the satellite from sliding out completely, disconnect
them.
4. Remove the retention bracket from the lower rear of the NetServer and set
it aside. See Figure 3-2.
CAUTION
You will need to replace the retention bracket when
redocking the Satellite Chassis. The Bracket ensures correct
mechanical connection.
