change it and notify the channel of the change. The channel will ask what the MIHPTO is set to during the
time where it is bringing that link to the CUP online.
The MIHPTO setting will persist across reboots, POR, and failovers. Setting this value to the upper end of
the time range will allow the CUP to process more requests, such as at peak usage times, without timing
out the channels. HP recommends that the value should be set to 180 seconds in a SAN with B- and
M-Series switches. The default value is 15 seconds.
1.
Log in to the switch as admin.
2.
Disable the switch.
3.
Enter the ficonCupSet MIHPTO command and set the value between 15 and 600.
Example: Setting the MIHPTO value
switch:admin> ficoncupsetMIHPTO 447
The input value of the MIHPTO will be rounded down to
the nearest value divisible by 10. This is due to
IBM's MIHPTO specification.
MIHPTO has been changed to 440 seconds

The ficonCupShow modereg command displays the mode register bit settings for the switch. A display
of 0 indicates that the mode register bit is set to off; 1 indicates that the bit is set to on.
The command format is:
ficoncupshow modereg [bitname]
where bitname is one of the mode register bits described in
To display all mode register bit settings for the switch:
switch:admin> ficoncupshow modereg

Programmed offline state control. When this bit is set on, the host is prevented from taking
the switch offline. The default setting is 1 (on).
User alert mode. When this bit is set on, a warning is issued when an action is attempted
that will write CUP parameters on the switch. The default setting is 0 (off).
Active=saved mode. When this bit is set on, all CUP configuration parameters are
persistent, meaning that they will be saved in nonvolatile storage in the initial program
load (IPL) file that is applied upon a cold reboot or a power cycle. The default setting is 1
(on).
Switch clock alert mode. When this bit is set on, a warning is issued when the date,
tsClockServer, or tsTimeZone commands are entered to set the time and date on
the switch. The default setting is 0 (off).
Alternate control prohibited. Because the Fabric OS CLI, Web Tools, and Data Center
Fabric Manager are considered to be switch consoles, this bit has no effect on their
operation. Attempts to set CUP parameters through SNMP are denied when this bit is set
on. The default setting is 1 (on).
Host control prohibited. When this bit is set on, the host is not allowed to set CUP
parameters. The default setting is 0 (off).
