Installing a Hard Drive

Note: If you are replacing a hard drive, see
instructions first. Return to these steps when directed.
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See
Information" on page
2. Power down the server. Unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see
System Cover" on page
4. Remove the screws that hold the hard drive bracket to the system. See letter "A" in
the figure below. For easiest access to the screws on the right side of the hard drive
bracket, lift the power supply from the system.
5. Lift the drive carrier from the system. See letter "B" in the figure.
