Configuration Examples for Managing Packages

Packages can be removed only if they are deactivated from all cards. A package cannot be deactivated if
that package is required by another active package. When a deactivation is attempted, the system runs
an automatic check to ensure that the package is not required by other active packages. The deactivation
is permitted only after all compatibility checks have passed.
To preview the impact of a deactivation, enter the test option with the install deactivate command to

Copying and Adding a Package to the Router: Example

In the following example, the Multicast package is added to the system:
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router# install add tftp://255.255.255.255/files/hfr-mcast-p.pie to disk0:
Install: The idle timeout on this line will be suspended for synchronous install
operations
Install: Starting install operation. Do not insert or remove cards until the operation
completes.
Install: Now operating in asynchronous mode. Do not attempt subsequent install operations
until this operation is complete. RP/0/RP0/CPU0:router#Install 1: Install operation 'add
