7.2.2. Backup Batteries
The stimulator UI contains 2 AA alkaline batteries. These will need to be replaced
periodically. Battery status can be checked on the user configuration screen and
when low, is reported on the options menu.
Only alkaline AA batteries should be used. Do not use re-chargeable, or zinc
carbon batteries. When spent, the batteries should be disposed of under the
appropriate environmental regulations.
1. Remove the screw on the base of the stimulator UI, connecting the UI to the
E-z Cart and unplug the UI link lead.
2. Turn the stimulator UI upside down to access the underneath of the UI base.
3. Remove the 4 cross-head screws visible, and detach the plastic bottom of the
UI base.
Important: The UI has a small capacitor which will maintain the internal settings
for about 20 seconds once the batteries are removed. It is important that the
batteries are replaced within the 20 seconds so that data is not lost.
4. Before removing the old batteries, ensure you have the correct replacements
and that you are clear about the orientation to replace the batteries.
5. Insert the new batteries and replace the bottom of the stimulator UI casing,
securing with the original screws. Do not over-tighten the screws as this may
cause damage.
Note: If the equipment is likely to be unused for a long period of time it is advised
that the batteries be removed to avoid the batteries corroding. Data should be
exported to the memory card before removing the batteries for any length of
time.
