Hearing Protection: The patient must always wear earplugs or similar
hearing protection devices with a rating of 30dB of noise reduction when being
treated with The stimulator. Hearing protection is also advised for the operator if
he or she is located within 6 feet (2 meters) of the coil.
Warning High Voltages: High voltages are present in The stimulator and
accessories during operation and for up to 20 minutes following operation.
Therefore do not remove covers and refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
• If there is any sign of external damage or if any parts are damp or wet, they
must not be used. Ensure that The stimulator and accessories are not subject
to conditions where water/ liquid may be tipped on them.
• Ensure that The stimulator is fully switched off prior to removing any cables at
the rear of the system.
• Ensure that the system is stopped, using the red stop button, prior to
disconnecting the stimulating coil from the stimulator.
Adverse Reactions: Discontinue treatment with TMS therapy for any patient who
has a continued significant adverse reaction or discomfort during or immediately
after use (temporary mild discomfort at the site of stimulation is normal during
and/or shortly after treatment).
EMC Interference: The Magstim
1-2:2014, Edition 4.0 (Conducted and radiated emissions comply with CISPR 11
Group 2 Class A limits and immune to the Professional Healthcare Environment).
• WARNING: Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other
equipment should be avoided because it could result in improper operation.
If such use is necessary, this equipment and the other equipment should be
observed to verify that they are operating normally.
• WARNING: Use of accessories, transducers and cables other than those
specified or provided by the manufacturer of this equipment could result
in increased electromagnetic emissions or decreased electromagnetic
immunity of this equipment and result in improper operation.
• WARNING: Portable RF communications equipment (including peripherals
such as antenna cables and external antennas) should be used no closer
than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the Magstim
or accessories, including cables specified by the manufacturer. Otherwise,
degradation of the performance of this equipment could result.
