2-11 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER
{ENGINE OIL)
Replace initially at 1,000 km (1 month) and
Every 4,000 km (4 months) thereafter.
(OIL FILTER)
Replace initially at 1,000 km (1 month) and
Every 8,000 km (8 months) thereafter.
together with engine oil change.
e Keep the motorcycle upright with center stand.
@ Place an oil pan under the engine.
e Remove the engine oil drain plug @ and oil filler cap @ to
drain engine oil.
« Remove the oil filter ) sand install the new one.
e Replace the filter cap (3) and tighten the nut and bolts
securely.
NOTE :
Before installing the new oif filter and filter cap, check to be
sure that the spring(S) and new O-rings (6), (7) are installed
correctly,
e Tighten the oil drain plug @) to the specified torque.
Oil drain plug : 18 N-m (1.8 kg-m)
e Supply a good quality multi-grade motor oil.
e Tighten the oil filler cap @) .
e Start up the engine and allow it to run for several minutes
at idling speed.
¢ Turn off the engine and wait about one minute.
e Check the oil level with the oil level window. If the oil level is
below the "F" mark, add oil until level reaches the "F" mark.
Oil viscosity and classification : SAE 10W/40 with SF or SG
NECESSARY AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL
Oil change : 1,000 mI
Oil filter change : 1,100 mI
Overhaul : 1,200 mi

FUEL HOSE
Inspect every 4,000 km (4 months).
Replace every 4 years.
CLUTCH
Inspect initially at 1,000 km (1 month) and
Every 4,000 km (4 months).
e Loosen the lock nut @ and turn the adjuster (2) fully in,
e Loosen the lock nut @ and adjust the clutch lever
play @® with the adjuster (4) to the specified play.
Clutch lever play (A) : 10-15 mm
e Tighten the lock nuts © i. 'S)
CARBURETOR
Inspect initially at 1,000 km (1 month) and
every 4,000 km (4 months) thereafter.
IDLE RPM (Idling adjustment)
e Adjust the throttle cable play. (Refer to page 2-13.)
e Warm up the engine.
NOTE:
Make this adjustment when the engine is hot.
e Connect an electric tachometer.
e Start up the engine and set its speed at any where between
1,300 and 1,500 r/min by turning throttle stop screw.
Engine idle speed : 1,400 * 100 r/min
