3-47 ENGINE
CYLINDER
Before mounting the cylinder block, oil the big end and small
end of the conrod and also the sliding surface of the piston.
e Fit dowel pins to crankcase and then fit new gasket.
AACAUTION
To prevent oil leakago, do not use the old gasket again,
always use a new one.
e Hold each piston ring with the piston ring section properly
and insert them into the cylinder,
e Check to ensure that the piston rings are properly inserted
into the cylinder skirt.
e Temporarily tighten the cylinder base nuts.
NOTE :
When mounting the cylinder, keep the camshaft drive chain taut.
The camshaft drive chain must not be caught between cam
drive chain sprocket and crankcase when crankshaft is rotated.
CYLINDER HEAD
e Fit the dowel pins to the cylinder and then, attach the new
gasket to the cylinder.
AXCAUTION
Use a new cylinder head gasket to prevent oil leakage.
Do not use the old gasket.
e Place the cylinder head on the cylinder.
« Tighten the cylinder head bolts to the specified two-step
torque with a torque wrench diagonally.
iW} Cylinder head bolt ; Initial 13 N-m (1-3 kg-m)
Final 25 N-m (2.5 kg-m)
NOTE:
Apply engine oil to the cylinder head bolt's. washers before
installing the cylinder head bolts.
e Aiter firmly tightening the cylinder head bolts, tighten the
cylinder base nuts a) and cylinder head nuts @ to the ©
specified torque.
Cylinder base nut (1) : 10 N-m (1.0 kg-m)
Cylinder head nut (2) : 10 N-m (1.0 kg-m)
CAMSHAFT
NOTE:
« With "T" line accurately lined up with the index mark, hold
the camshaft steady and lightly pull up the chain to remove
the slack between the crank sprocket and exhaust sprocket.
