6-7 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
GENERATOR (CHARGING/LIGHTING) COIL INSPECTION
e Remove the frame cover (Refer to page 5-2.)
e Disconnect the generator lead wire coupler.
Using a pocket tester, measure the resistance between the
lead wires and ground.
lf the resistance checked is incorrect, replace the charging/
lighting coil with a new one:
09900-25002 : Pocket tester
(fe) Tester knob indication : x 12 range
Charging/lighting coil resistance
W/R-Ground : 0.5-2.00
Y/W-Ground : 0.3-1.50
W/R : White with Red tracer
Y/W : Yellow with White tracer
NOTE:
When making above test, it is not necessary to remove the
generator.
GENERATOR NO-LOAD PERFORMANCE INSPECTION
e Remove the frame cover. (Refer to page 5-2.)
e Disconnect the regulator/rectifier coupler from the regulator/
rectifier.
e Turn the lighting switch to OFF position.
« Start the engine and keep it running at 5,000 r/min.
Using a pocket tester, measure the AC voltage between the
W/R lead wire and ground.
lf the tester reads under the specified value, replace the
charging/lighting coil or rotor with a new one.

Tester knob indication : AC 250V
Generator no-load performance :
More than 45V (AC) at 5,000 r/min
(When engine is cold)
